Dr. Benson received his BS degree in animal science from the University of Vermont in 1979 and his MS degree in biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1984 and his PhD in entomology from Clemson in 1988. He has worked in research and development for Ciba-Geigy (Syngenta) in Switzerland and Dow Chemical. After working as an Extension Entomologist at Auburn University he returned to Clemson in 1997. He has responsibilities for research and education programs concerning household and structural pests in South Carolina. For 14 years he could be heard on the SC Educational Radio Show, Your Day, answering call-in questions about bugs. Current appointment: Working on special projects, industry training and partial retirement.
Kevin Hathorne earned both his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Entomology from Clemson University, where he studied under Dr. Eric Benson and Dr. Pat Zungoli. He has been with Terminix Service, Inc. for 26 years, beginning his career as a field technician before advancing to Assistant Regional Manager and later joining the Training & Technical Department.

Today, Kevin serves as Training & Technical Director, leading a team responsible for new employee onboarding, technical training, troubleshooting, product evaluation, treatment protocol development, safe driver training, safety and compliance initiatives, and a wide range of other operational support functions across the company.

Kevin is a Board Certified Entomologist and holds a Public Health Entomology Certificate. With more than two decades of industry experience, he is passionate about developing pest management professionals and advancing technical excellence throughout the organization.
Chelsey Bozich earned her bachelor's degree in Agriculture from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Before joining Clemson University's Department of Pesticide Regulation, she worked as a horticulturist for an indoor hydroponic agriculture company.

She has been with Clemson University's Department of Pesticide Regulation for over six years. She currently serves as the Structural Compliance Coordinator, managing South Carolina's Structural Compliance Program, while also serving as the pesticide investigator for Williamsburg, Georgetown, Berkeley, and Charleston counties.

She is also an instructor for Clemson's Master Termite Technician School. Chelsey will graduate in December with a Masters in Wildlife and Fisheries Resources from Clemson University.
Clemson University’s Department of Plant Industry (DPI) and Apiculture programs are leading the fight against the invasive yellow-legged hornet in South Carolina. The effort relies on public reporting and trapping to locate nests and eradicate queens, protecting the local beekeeping industry.

Brad and Addison will be giving updates on current efforts to eradicate this new pest threat.
