Dr. Benson received his bachelor’s degree in animal science from the University of Vermont in 1979 and his master’s degree in biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1984 and his Ph.D. in entomology from Clemson in 1988. He has worked in research and development for Ciba-Geigy in Switzerland and Dow Chemical. After working as an Extension Entomologist at Auburn University he returned to Clemson in 1997. He had responsibilities for research and education programs concerning household and structural pests in South Carolina. For 14 years, he could be heard on the SC Educational Radio Show, Your Day, answering call -in questions about bugs. After serving Clemson University for 31 years, Dr. Benson retired June of 2019 but has returned to Clemson on a part time basis to continue to serve the pest control industry and public with Extension programs.
Michael graduated from Coastal Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with emphasis in Marine Science. After graduating, Michael spent a brief period in the pest control industry before joining Clemson in 2006. Michael currently serves as Field Operations Manager for the Department of Pesticide Regulation out of the Charleston office. Michael also is an instructor for the Apprentice Termite Technician, Master Termite Technician and Wood Infestation Report Urban Entomology Training Programs.
Carmen Ketron is the Urban Horticulture Agent and Master Gardener Coordinator for Florence & Darlington Counties in South Carolina. Carmen supports the Green Industry in the Pee Dee, as well as urban, peri-urban, and rural homeowners, schools, and community garden operations. Her primary focus is developing educational experiences and resources that provide a synergistic understanding of the environment and how it can be managed and supported.
Maria Miller

Born and raised in Asheville NC., Maria is a 30 plus -year transplant to Upstate SC. Maria joined the industry after 20 years in the restaurant equipment supply business. She has served as representative both for manufacturing and distribution during her nearly 16 year tenure in the pest control trade. She is an approved speaker/trainer for NC, SC, GA and VA. She is chair of the NC chapter of PWIPM and a member of the SC PWIPM. Her territory for Envu includes NC, SC and Eastern TN.
